About the Artist

I grew up with the need to create. At the time, I didn’t have the knowledge to understand I was searching for a way to connect as an artist. Living in a small town nestled in the mountains of Vermont, where everyone knows your name and your family secrets, made me feel like I had to run away as far as possible. With my Olympus point-and-shoot in hand, I captured the lives of mischievous friends who soon became closer to me than family. That’s where it all started.

A few years later, I had the opportunity to join a program where high-school students designed their own curriculum based upon their passion and interests. I experienced real-world learning through studio internships, taking film courses at the University of Vermont, and over time, learning how to be a productive member a close-knit community.

After high school, I moved to the San Francisco Bay Area to study fine art photography at the Academy of Art University. I became heavily influenced by photographers whose work represents the female gaze, such as Petra Collins, Amber Asaly, Hannah Thornhill, and so many others. My personal work consists of contemporary portraiture, mainly focused on the lives of modern youth while we try to decipher young adulthood.

The images in my portfolio mimic various phases in my lifetime, from an adolescent age until now. The intended outcome is a message of radical self-acceptance. My work is meant to encourage younger generations to embrace their differences and most importantly, to be proud of who they are.  Inside and out.
